This past Saturday we had the honor of attending the 62^nd Annual Eddie Awards. We started off the evening at a special Avid cocktail hour at the rooftop Startdust Room of the Beverly Hilton hotel. What amazing views: you could see all the way to downtown LA to Bel Air and beyond! It was a classy start to great evening.

Besides the Eddie Awards for editing excellence, the show also honored Alexander Payne – ACE Golden Eddie Honoree, Joel Cox, A.C.E – ACE Career Achievement Honoree and Doug Ibold, A.C.E. – ACE Career Achievement Honoree.

Host Patton Oswalt

The show was hosted by Patton Oswalt – well known stand-up comedian, writer, actor and voice actor; you may know him from his most recent role in “Young Adults” with Charlize Theron. He proved to be a great host, keeping things light and moving right along.

Clint Eastwood introduces Joel Cox, A.C.E

Besides getting to see all the great editors being recognized for their work, the stars were out to also pay tribute to both editors and honorees alike. Joel Cox, A.C.E was first up to be honored for Career Achievement – and boy what a career it has been: J. Edgard, Hereafter, Invictus, Gran Torino, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Absolute Power, Unforgiven – the list goes on and on. And if you noticed a theme connecting all of these movies, you’d realize there was no one better to do the introduction than Clint Eastwood. Mr Eastwood talked of their long collaboration – what a class act.

Next up to be honored was Alexander Payne and he was introduced by none other than Rees Witherspoon.

Reese talked about working with him on Election and some awkwardly timed freeze frames he used to help convey the story. Initially she was a bit shocked seeing her face frozen and the worst possible moment, but soon realized how it was being used to convey the story.

Mega television producer Dick Wolf provided some great behind the scenes stories about Miami Vice and Don Johnson working with Melanie Griffith for the first time, and provided the introduction the nights final ACE Career Achievement Honoree, Doug Ibold, A.C.E

Installing Bella Shortcut Stickers on a Keyboard

Bella’s color and icon coded stickers are an economical way to get shortcuts for your favorite application on your favorite keyboard! Most of our sticker sets come in two sizes – one designed for Mac and laptop size keys, and the other for most Windows keyboards.

Before getting started, here are the items that you will need:  a lint-free cleaning cloth, cleaning solution, isopropyl alcohol, and tweezers. If you just purchase the keyboard and have never touched any of the keys that you are about to put the stickers on, then you won’t need the lint-free cleaning cloth, cleaning solution or isopropyl alcohol.

Installation Steps

Before starting, make sure to turn off your computer!

If your keyboard is basically new but you have used it, you will need to wipe the keys using the lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol. This will remove any oil that has been transferred onto the keys from your fingers.

If you have an older keyboard, most likely the keys have some degree dirt and grime that has built up over time. You will need to use a cleaning solution to remove the dirt and grim, making sure that the solution is safe to use on your keycaps and won’t ruin the plastic. Next we recommend doing another pass with isopropyl alcohol – this should remove any cleaning solution residue that might still be on the keys.

Now it’s time to carefully remove sticker, making sure do not touch the adhesive on the back of the back.

Using tweezers, align the each sticker on the appropriate key.

Press down firmly for 5-10 seconds

Repeat steps 4-6 until you have placed all the stickers on the keyboard.
